The Mountains of Mourne lie on the south eastern coast of Northern Ireland providing a unique playground for many people who visit the expanses of granite, heather, rivers and loughs. There is a distinct atmosphere of remoteness even though the area is relatively small and situated close to Newcastle and Rostrevor town. The area displays breath taking scenery as the mountains are surrounded by drumlins to the north and a wide plain to the south, not to mention the mountains themselves.
