The Burren is a unique limestone region on the west coast of Ireland overlooking the Atlantic. The Burren means 'a rocky place' and this is certainly true as over 250 square kilometres is covered in amazing formations up in the hills and ending in the Atlantic Ocean as steep cliffs. It is also home to a wide variety of rare plants that thrive in the limestone cracks. Many of these plants are to be found mainly amongst the European Alps.
